Holiday Traditions at the Capitol by Texas State Rep. Larry Phillips
The holiday season is well underway. Cities in Delta, Fannin, and Grayson Counties have decorated their streets and are hosting Christmas events such as parades and holiday concerts. Likewise, at the Capitol in Austin preparations for the holiday season have begun. 2014 Capitol Ornament Unveiled by Texas State Rep. Larry Phillips
An annual tradition at the capitol is the unveiling of the capitol ornament. The 2014 ornament was just recently unveiled and features the blue oculus windows which can been seen near the north wing of the Capitol. The ornament is finished in 24k gold.
There were originally twenty-four blue, round windows installed in the skylight structure located on the north wing roof of the Capitol. The compound glass was made by fusing together . . .
