Pre-filed Legislation for the 84th Legislature  by Texas State Rep. Larry Phillips
The next legislative session of the Texas Legislature is set to begin January 13, 2015. The legislature meets in regular sessions every two years, beginning at noon on the second Tuesday of odd numbered years. A regular legislative session lasts for 140 consecutive days.

New Members Prepare For Upcoming Session by Texas State Rep. Larry Phillips
For the first time in many years, the state has a new governor, lieutenant governor, comptroller, attorney general, agriculture commissioner, and land commissioner. All of the state-wide office holders are Republicans. The Texas Senate will also have seven new members, three of whom previously served in the House.
