Ruth Cape Edits Letter Collection about Life of German Immigrants in Texas by Austin College
SHERMAN, TEXAS--Ruth I. Cape, Austin College associate professor of German, has edited a bilingual and annotated edition of a collection of letters, New World View: Letters from a German Immigrant Family in Texas, 1854 – 1885. 2014 Capitol Ornament Unveiled by Texas State Rep. Larry Phillips
An annual tradition at the capitol is the unveiling of the capitol ornament. The 2014 ornament was just recently unveiled and features the blue oculus windows which can been seen near the north wing of the Capitol. The ornament is finished in 24k gold.
There were originally twenty-four blue, round windows installed in the skylight structure located on the north wing roof of the Capitol. The compound glass was made by fusing together . . .
