The Preston Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is taking care of Veterans. Members of Preston Trail Chapter NSDAR will present a humorous and factual play about the old Preston Trail to raise money for Opening Doors for Disabled Veterans assistance program. The assistance program was established January 2013 to provide funds to Grayson County disabled veterans.

Opening Doors for Disabled Veterans is a unique assistance program. The only one of its kind in Grayson County! Opening Doors for Disabled Veterans provides funds to widen doors to bathrooms in the homes of Veterans and provide wheelchair ramps to further aid in the Veterans mobility. If needed they provide other handicap facilities like toilets, sinks, or grab bars.

Some Veterans suffer from non-combat related disability. Many have retired from the military after serving for many years in war and peace time. They suffer from debilitating diseases such as stroke, diabetes, MS, etc. and are wheelchair bound.

The original One Act play entitled, "Preston Trail on Cloud 9" will be presented Saturday, April 26th at 6:00pm and Sunday, April 27th at 2:00pm. Location for both performances is the VFW Post #2772, 1707 Baker Rd in Sherman. A full bar-b-q dinner will be served at the Saturday night performance courtesy of Ring-Tail BBQ. A Dessert Extravaganza will be served at the Sunday afternoon performance with home made desserts. A silent auction will be held at both performances.

The Twin Fiddles, twins Megan and Leah will once again entertain us prior to the play.

This year's play highlights Grayson County residents Edna Gladney and Lydia Starr McPherson. Of course, Miss Sophie and Olive Oatman will make their appearances. You may even see dance hall girls and cheeky maids!

We are committed to the Grayson County Disabled Veterans and to the goals of our national society. Don't miss the hilarity and history! Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Reserve your tickets today by contacting Lisa Lettie, Regent, Preston Trail Chapter NSDAR, lisalettie@yahoo.com.
