SHERMAN, TEXAS-The Austin College Music Department will present junior Rizwan Jagani in a viola recital Thursday, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Craig Hall Recital Hall on campus. He is the son of Azra and Rayaz Jagani of Plano, Texas. The concert is free and open to the public.

Jagani, completing a major in music, has played viola for nearly 10 years. For the recital, he will present "Prayer from Jewish Life" by Ernest Bloch, "Bourree from Suite in C Major" by Johann Sebastian Bach, and "Concerto in G for Viola and Orchestra" by Georg Philip Telemann. Dr. John McGinn of the Austin College Department of Music faculty will accompany Jagani on two pieces.

Jagani is preparing the music from the concert to compete in the Young Texas Artist Music Competition in Conroe, Texas, in March.

A performer in the Sherman Symphony Orchestra and the Austin College Chamber Orchestra, Jagani also is involved in the KangaRaas, Indian Garba/Dandiya Raas competitive dance team, and the Muslim Students Association at Austin College.

Completing a minor in Spanish at Austin College in addition to his music studies, Jagani hopes to work in the airline industry and teach private music lessons upon finishing his degree.
