SHERMAN, TEXAS-Austin College senior Amanda Mayfield of Mesquite, Texas, will present a soprano solo recital Sunday, February 17, at 4 p.m. in Craig Hall, Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
During her Senior Recital, Amanda will perform three German art songs, two by Franz Schubert and one by Robert Schumann; two arias from Gian Carlo Menotti's opera The Medium; three French art songs by Cecile Chaminade; an aria from Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi; and four English art songs by Samuel Barber.
Amanda is completing a major in music, with a minor in religious studies. Since fall 2009, she has participated as a member of the Austin College A Cappella Choir as well as the Consort jazz vocal ensemble. She has studied voice at Austin College with Sylvia Rivers, adjunct instructor in music. "I enjoy sharing my musical talents with others, whether it be solo singing or in an ensemble," Amanda said. "The best part of performing is telling and interpreting the unique story that each musical piece possesses."
