The original show KURVES, THE MUSICAL is back by popular demand for three nights only October 11, 12, 13, 2012 at 8:00 pm at the Rialto Theater in Denison, Texas. (http://www.rialtodenison.com/)

Playwrights Amy Shojai and Frank Steele premiered their original show KURVES in March 2012 to rave reviews and received an invitation to bring the show back to The Rialto. Five of the original cast will reprise their roles, and three new actors bring a fresh interpretation.

Shojai says, "It's exactly the same...only different. New actors make it fun for the cast as well as folks who may have seen it before. And if you missed the debut we're delighted North Texas theater lovers get another chance to enjoy KURVES and these wonderful performers."

KURVES is a family friendly musical comedy in two acts that runs approximately two hours. It features 12 original songs with full orchestration written by the playwrights in styles ranging from ballads to blues, jazz to gospel. Song samples and cast photos from the premiere performance are available at http://www.AmyShojai.com/Kurves

The play is set in Kurves, Texas and takes place early one morning when a group of misfits are trapped inside Maxine's, a woman's gym.

Cross-dressing Maxine (Frank Steele) owns the gym, and is joined by three regular customers who have become good friends. Mabel (Nikki Silva) is the many-times-married director of a soup kitchen. Mousey poetry teacher Jane (Theresa Littlefield) wants to make an impression at her next high school reunion. And newlywed Ronnie (Hilary Gregory-Allen) married the "town catch" but feels unworthy of his love.

Two inept small-time crooks burst into the gym to rob the women but are easily sidetracked. Boots (Joe Maglio) fancies himself a ladies man and tries his lines on everyone including Maxine. Fingers (Johnny Flowers) is a movie-quoting gentle soul who guards his treasure-filled Superman lunchbox.

The robbers break the key in the lock to stop further interruptions after a familiar-looking stranger arrives. Celia (Amy Shojai) is a famous motivational speaker but loses her cool after she discovers a decades-old betrayal when she recognizes Max from her past. "Maxine" becomes Max, tempers flare, romance blooms and secrets are confessed.

Only the arrival of Ronnie's husband Troy, the "town catch" (Gil Nelson) reveals the truth behind Max's masquerade and secret life. Despite failed attempts to find happiness when thrown unexpected curves, everyone finally succeeds-but in unexpected ways.

KURVES, THE MUSICAL is directed by Frank Steele, with music direction by Amy Shojai. Mickie Martin is stage manager, Leah and Rachel Martin run sound, and Garrett and Greg Guymon of The Rialto handle the lights. KURVES plays for three nights only Oct. 11, 12, 13 at 8:00 pm at The Rialto Theater in Denison, Texas. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 for children twelve and under. Call the Rialto Box Office 903-465-7469 for reservations.
